The action-research project Urban Agriculture as an Integrative Factor for Climate-Optimised Urban Development, Casablanca (UAC 2005-2013), supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the research program Future Megacities, is organising a closing event on the contributions of Urban Agriculture to the urban development of future megacities in the global South.
Following a transdisciplinary approach, as the UAC-project itself, the International Colloquium on Urban Agriculture (ICUA) aims at sharing knowledge, experiences and practices between stakeholders and multipliers of various backgrounds to reflect on upcoming challenges facing future megacities and the possible role of Urban Agriculture.
ICUA-Casa will offer a platform to discuss the outcome of more than eight years of Moroccan-German collaboration and place them in the global discussion on the development of cities and urban agriculture. Further approaches, projects, and actions from other urban contexts worldwide will be presented to enrich the dialogue. The colloquium will revolve around the key issues of transferability and the anchoring of food policies in urban development.

Dans le cadre du projet maroco-allemand L’Agriculture Urbaine comme facteur intégratif d’un développement urbain optimisé au climat, Casablanca (UAC) , les partenaires du projet organisent un colloque international sur la contribution de l’agriculture urbaine au développement des mégapoles émergentes.
Le colloque permettra une première présentation des résultats du projet UAC mais offrira également une opportunité d’échanges entre acteurs locaux et scientifiques de différentes mégapoles mondiales. Ce sera l’occasion de mettre en perspective les exemples novateurs (Sao Paulo, New York, Kigali, Toronto, Milan, Tunis, Berlin etc.) et de débattre des perspectives futures à travers les exemples positifs développés dans le Grand Casablanca ces cinq dernières années.
Grâce à l’approche transdisciplinaire, le Colloque ICUA-CASA 2013 vise à partager les connaissances, les expériences et les pratiques entre les acteurs et les multiplicateurs de divers horizons, afin de proposer des solutions aux défis à relever pour les grandes villes de demain, principalement pour les pays en développement.
